These mouth masks, also known as "duck beaks", can be compared with the protection level of the FFP1, European standard.
Quite recently, the Ministry of Health, on the advice of its American sister CDC, (Centers For Disease Control and Prevention) has approved the Chinese variant of the FFP2 mouth masks, being the KN95, in accordance with the European standard FFP2 / EN149-2001. Therefore, these masks were imported on a large scale in Europe and also in the Netherlands. Recently, it has been determined by test and research by the Dutch government that these KN95 caps, which are used en masse in China to fight the Corona virus, do not meet the Dutch FFP2 standard, (hospitals etc.) and at most meet the FFP1 standard. (reasonable protection)
We will of course adopt these new guidelines from the Dutch government in their entirety. We now have a reasonable batch of KN95 mouth masks, but we would like to emphasize again that, in accordance with the new Dutch standard, these mouth masks do not offer guaranteed protection against the Corona virus! These masks can thus be compared with a maximum of the European FFP1 standard, which have the qualification of “reasonably good”.
